This is the first World Dance Alliance event in India and we would like to extend our warm welcome to all members of the dance community and other individuals to participate in the event.

International Conference: ¡§Re-Searching Dance¡¨

Focus: World Dance Alliance has laid immense importance on equal and simultaneous emphasis on creating a platform for discussions and debate on practice and theory of dance in its previous conferences. In keeping with its past practice the 2009 WDA event has been planned on the theme ¡§Re-Searching Dance¡¨.
In an attempt to open up the conference to all individuals who are concerned with important areas of dance-research in the context of society, politics, pedagogy, kinetics, vocabulary, documentation, gender, history and other topics of contemporary relevance.
The principal areas in focus are:
- Movement, kinetics and society
- Presentation and representation
- Dance pedagogy of today

Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jawaharlal Nehru University.A seven-day choreo-lab process is planned with six choreographers. The six participants will work with each other for a duration of seven days from the 21st to the 27th of November, 2009.
On 28th November, the India International Centre will host an evening performance/showing ¡V where each of the choreographers would present a short showcase of his/her individual work.
There will also be a discussion/showing/sharing process between the audience and the choreographers with Dr. Rustom Bharucha as the facilitator.

There will be a concluding dinner, on 1st December, hosted by Sanskriti Kendra.
